Everything that has a beginning…
Welcome! You and I, dear reader, are about to embark on a new journey. I am slowly and surely catching up to the 21st Century, and have finally decided to begin a blog. I hope you’ll bear with me as I struggle, stop, and start again. My basic theory for this blog is really simple: I will write about my primary interests, which will be categorized as follows:
1. Criticism – I was a literature major in college, so this should come as no surprise. Posts in this category will have me performing criticism (an oxymoron) on various pieces of literature, film, and sometimes music or art, depending on what I’ve experienced at any given time. I suspect this will mostly be focused on film, what I see the most, but as I form opinions about other things, they may well find themselves under my dull critic’s knife! I really enjoy using philosophy in my criticism, which leads to our next category…
2. Philosophy – I was Philosophy major in college, so this is where I will pontificate from my ivory tower. In actuality, you’ll hear me blend and steal from other greater minds as I attempt to form my own personal thoughts. Coming Soon! D’s Primary Philosophical Stance!
3. Gaming – I am an avid gamer, and all things gaming will be posted here, including, but not limited to: Video Games, CCGs, DnD, Tabletop, Poker, and even Board Games.
4. Journal – This is basically the miscellaneous (that’s a bitch to spell) portion of my blog, and will contain random thoughts on things going on in my life in general.
There you have it, my first official blog entry. One small step for D, one giant leap backward for the blogosphere. Sleep beckons, and I have this little thing called “work” which requires my attention. I’m also going to endeavor to find a cool “sign-off” for my posts (I love cliches), akin to Edward R. Murrow’s famous closing. Although mine will likely be a favorite quote from literature or film. Until then, I suppose Mr. Murrow’s will do just fine.
